BJISG offers the latest diagnostic services including, Digital X-Ray, Open MRI, Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
DIGITAL X-RAY
At the Bone & Joint Institute of South Georgia, our patients benefit from the latest direct digital technology, as well as the convenience of being x-rayed on-site, eliminating the need for a third party service and allowing for more direct contact with their physician. Digital radiography is much like digital photography and is considerably faster than computerized radiography or conventional x-ray, and doesn’t require the technician to handle a “cassette” between each image taken, saving even more time.
BJI has also implemented PACS (Picture Archival and Communication System). PACS provides secure storage and distribution of the digital x-ray images, and makes images immediately available for your doctor to read. The images are also viewable in each patient room for the doctor to review with the patient, reducing the time you spend waiting for x-ray results. Additionally, PACS can make copies of a patient’s images on CD to take to other health care providers as needed.
OPEN MRI
The ACR accredited on-site Open MRI at the Bone & Joint Institute of South Georgia in Jesup and Waycross, GA is just one of the many ways we provide our patients with a convenient, comfortable experience while utilizing the most advanced imaging technology available. The Hitachi AIRIS II is a state-of-the-art high performance, premium open MRI scanner that delivers high quality orthopaedic imagery coupled with a more comfortable patient environment.
The ACR Gold Seal of Accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
We have also implemented PACS (Picture Archival and Communication System), which provides secure storage and distribution of the MRI images, and makes images immediately available for your doctor to read. The images are viewable in each patient room for the doctor to review with the patient. Additionally, PACS can make copies of a patient’s images on CD to take to other health care providers as needed. BJISG’s on-site Open MRI allows our patients to receive exemplary care closer to home.
Open MRI allows our highly skilled staff to provide friendly, personalized care in a beautifully appointed, non-confining, peaceful environment designed specifically to put patients at ease. In addition, having an Open MRI on-site allows more direct contact with your doctor and eliminates the need for a third party imaging service. We also have our own radiologist on staff, allowing us to read and provide MRI results quickly and efficiently. Our entire staff is experienced, compassionate, and dedicated to making sure every patient receives the same kind of treatment they would want for themselves and their own families.
EMG & NCS
EMG and NCS are important diagnostic tests that can provide vital information about the health of your muscles and nerves. EMG & NCS are vital tests that can:
- Detect the cause of problems such as muscle weakness, numbness, spasm paralysis or pain.
- Determine if the problem involves the nerves, muscles, spinal cord or brain.
- Diagnose pinched nerves and inflamed muscles due to injury, ruptured disk, disease or other conditions.
- Identify carpal tunnel syndrome — pressure on a major nerve causing pain in the wrist or hand.
- Detect primary muscle disorders, such as muscular dystrophy (a disease that causes certain muscles to waste away).
- Diagnose neuromuscular disorders, such as myasthenia gravis (a defect in nerve impulses that causes chronic muscle weakness).
- Identify nerve disorders, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis — (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
People of all ages can benefit from the diagnostic testing expertise of BJISG. If you are suffering from nerve impairments, disabilities from injuries or chronic headaches… call us today.
