The Bone & Joint Institute of South Georgia Announces Saturday Hours
August 23, 2013 – JESUP, GA – The Bone & Joint Institute of South Georgia announced this week that beginning Saturday August 24th, their Jesup and Waycross offices will be open Saturdays between 8 and 11am. “We’re excited to provide all of the communities we serve with the option of Saturday appointments.
It’s not always convenient to go get an MRI or have any kind of doctor’s appointment during the week – and of course with Friday night football games, there’s often a need for student athletes to be seen quickly without having to go to the ER,” said J. Lex Kenerly, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon. He went on to explain that he sees these Saturday clinics as another step in BJI’s continuing effort to be as patient-centric as possible.
Kenerly, a Jesup native, specializes in Sports Medicine, total joint replacement of the hip, knee, and shoulder, and more. He is graduate of Wayne County High School, The University of Georgia, and the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine. After his orthopedic surgery residency he returned to his hometown to open Kenerly Orthopedic Center where he practiced for over twenty years. In the summer of 2010, he opened the state of the art 15,000 square foot Bone and Joint Institute of South a Georgia at 110 Professional Court in Jesup.
J. Matt Valosen, MD, joined the practice in June 2012 and specializes in arthroscopic approaches to most orthopedic conditions, including joint replacement surgery and many other orthopedic surgical procedures. Valosen began his career in the US Army and was previously the Chief of Orthopedic Surgical Services at Winn Army Community Hospital, Ft. Stewart. A board certified Orthopedic Surgeon, Valosen brings a wealth of experience from his military background in treating sports related and traumatic injuries of the musculoskeletal system. He continues to stay on the cutting edge of treatment modalities in the operative and non-operative realms of patient care.
BJI’s newest orthopedic surgeon, Christopher E. Swanson, MD, specializes in the treatment of sports-related and traumatic injuries of the musculoskeletal system. He has an exceptional Sports Medicine background including having recently been assistant to the head physician of the Cincinnati Bengals. As an active member of the orthopedic community and one who thrives on new and cutting edge treatments, Swanson has participated in several Orthopedic and Sports Medicine presentations with subjects ranging from knee replacements to pain control and care of post-operative fractures. Swanson will begin seeing patients on September 9th.
